How HeatShield Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

• HeatShield Cerfractory Flue Sealant degradation in the smoke chamber. The Cerfractory slurry is designed to smooth parged smoke chambers, but in Olympia’s wet marine climate, we’ve seen it delaminate from thermal shock when homeowners run short, hot fires in shoulder seasons. The Joint Repair kit is meant to seal gaps between terra cotta flue tiles, but if the original tiles are spalled or the mortar bed has turned to sand, the repair has nothing solid to bond to.
